My Journey through the Tarot Kayla Garnet Rose • My first week in Santa Cruz, way back in 1987, I went to Gateways Books and bought the Mother Peace Round Tarot Deck. Little did I know I was to embark upon a lifetime of study.
• For me, tarot is a meditational tool, based on a system of 78 cards, with five suits: earth water, fire, air, and aether, spirit cards, also known as the major Arcana. They follow a system based on numerology, the elements, and the human journey through the spiral of life.
• Each card has an image depicting human archetypes, a universal life lesson, shared globally - joy, grief, compassion, humility, strength, beauty, jealousy, power... Each represented by different artists, and in different slightly forms: morals, fables, fairy tales, mythology, symbology. Each card tells a story, and because you have free will and you have free choice, any card you choose will have a lesson for you to apply to whatever situation you focus on. It’s like asking Grandma for advice and she tells you a story about back in the old country...
• There is comfort and wisdom in consulting the cards, because they reflect your current situation, validate the events leading up to the moment, and affirm the actions you choose as a result, for the most constructive and beneficial solution possible, what I like to call, for the highest good.

US Games systems has just released the eagerly anticipated The Pamela Coleman Smith Commemorative Set in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. What a delicious set! Quite simply gorgeous, starting from the beautiful keepsake box it comes in, the cards printed on heavy card stock, and the details like the ribbon ties, all make this a scrumptious set, whether for the complete novice or the avid collector.
Upon opening the box, the left side has two books, post cards and prints, the right side containting the cards. The postcards and prints are delightful. Four large over sized postcards includes black and white portrait of Pamela. The six smaller postcards include a copy of The Empress. A card layout sheet is included, with a 5 Card Love Spread, 3 Card Relationship Spread, and the traditional Celtic cross layout called the Woven Spread. (Click here for more...)
